About Us

HDH Exterior

Hanover & District Hospital (HDH) acknowledges with respect, the history, spirituality and culture of the Anishinaabeg, including the Saugeen Ojibway Nation whose traditional territories we gather on, recognizing the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation and Saugeen First Nation in Grey/Bruce counties.  We accept responsibility to practise kindness, speak truths and give respect to indigenous people through our service.

HDH works with its partners to provide a full range of primary acute care hospital services and selected secondary services to meet the needs of the population of Hanover and the surrounding rural townships.  We are committed to providing you with the highest quality care, where your safety is always our top priority.  We are dedicated to ensure our patients feel supported and valued throughout their journey with us.

The Board of Directors, staff, physicians and community partners work together to accomplish seamless care that provides core rural health services close to home and formulizes a clear pathway for referrals to additional services. HDH partners with peer acute hospitals, community agencies; long term care homes, mental health and addictions and social service providers.

HDH is fully dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion.  We honour and appreciate the unique perspectives, experiences, and cultural backgrounds of every patient, staff member, and community partner, recognizing that these differences enrich our organization and strengthen the care we provide.

HDH provides the people we service access to the care they need through 24/7 Emergency Department, Acute Care Unit (inclusive of medical/surgical beds and multipurpose ICU beds), Physiotherapy Program, Surgical Services Department, Family Centred Birthing Unit, Hemodialysis Unit and Palliative Care Services.

Access is provided within the organization to Community Mental Health and Addiction Services, Spiritual Care Services, Grey-Bruce Diabetes, Home and Community Support Services, Ontario Health atHome and the Hanover Family Health Team.

Accreditation Canada Seal

HDH has been accredited with Exemplary Status in three consecutive surveys. (2013, 2017, 2021) This is the highest level awarded by Accreditation Canada and reflects that our Board, staff, volunteers and physicians strive to surpass the fundamental requirements of the accreditation program.
